Lake James State Park is made up of two separate sections along the shores of this magnificent reservoir. Each has miles of trails, a fishing pier, and boat ramps within easy reach. The Catawba River Area is home to the park’s campground, and Paddy’s Creek houses the park’s fabulous swimming beach and the Paddy’s Creek Trail. Dogs are not allowed within the public swimming area, but don’t fret: The Paddy’s Creek Trail leads to some of the most pristine sandy beaches on the lake.
