This fabulous forest stroll leads you on a self-guided hike around the loop. Brochures near the trailhead are filled with educational information that coincides with the numbered posts along the path. You’ll learn about a variety of species within the woods, while this diverse forest keeps you shaded the entire way. Most people leave the hustle and bustle of the city and visit the recreation area for the sprawling 12,000-acre Falls Lake, but you’ll be surprised to see how enjoyable it is to stay on dry land as well. The Woodland Nature Trail leads you through a wonderful wooded forest that’s surprisingly diverse. Maple, oak, beech, hickory, poplar, and pine trees keep the trail shaded, and you can learn about them as you take the self-guided tour along this interpretive trail.
