The austere beauty of the White Mountains is dazzling. This landscape has a lunar eeriness, which is pronounced by its makeup of multicolored rock piled on more rock. The area is home to wildflowers, bees, all sorts of rodents, and bighorn sheep. The Sierra Nevada sparkles across the Owens Valley, and once you start gaining views into Nevada, the panoramic tableau is unobstructed for hundreds of miles. There is a tangible tranquility in the White Mountains; it is impossible not to be affected by the mountains’ serenity and stark magnificence.

I hike this mountain every year with my husband. Last year we were treated to a herd of Big Horn just off of the trail! It is strenuous but probably the easiest 14'er around.
