Trail is snow free except for a half-mile stretch reached after about 1/4 to 1/2 mile of hiking. It's a great hike for early in the season, but be prepared for 24 (yes, 24!) switchbacks. A view of Mt. Rainier through the trees helps keep the hiker's mind off the switchbacks. Worst part of the trail is that it is down going in and uphill coming back to the trailhead, but a nice trail on a clear day.
