Equestrians take to it. So did early prospectors and a few latter-day ones as well. But for some reason very few hikers find themselves on the trail to North Lake. Perhaps the nearby view-granting Twisp and Copper Pass trails siphon them away. But North Lake has views too—up-close and personal ones of lofty neighbors, 8321-foot Abernathy Peak and 8023-foot Gilbert Mountain. And the lake isn’t too shabby either, cupped in a snowy and rocky cirque and waterfall fed. But I guess you’ll have to take my word for it.
