Grasshopper Pass was previously unknown to me, but I did my research to find an area of the North Cascades that would be heavily populated with larches. I wasn't disappointed! We planned our trip for the fall and were lucky enough to have a few inches of snow on the ground. There's nothing like golden larches against a background of snow.
The first part of the trail seemed fairly steep, but the grades were more gradual the rest of the way. We had some trouble finding the trail due to the snow, but otherwise it was fine. Stunning views almost the whole way, and never saw another soul. This is definitely a must do hike in the fall. There seemed like there were some meadow areas that might have wildflowers in the spring, but I'll have to go back in July and check that out.
