Short and steep but loaded with views long and sweet from one of the Olympics’ most popular peaks. You’ll have plenty of solitude along Dirty Face Ridge— most hikers shun it for the two other approaches to Mount Townsend. Ledges galore offering views into the heart of the Buckhorn Wilderness may even distract you enough that you leave Townsend’s summit to the masses.

Not another person in sight all the way to to top. Trail head was marked as Little Q, but not difficult to locate. Strenuous for sure! Joins with a popular trail at the top, but there is plenty of room to spread out.
