Venture within the shadow of Mount Ellinor on an enjoyable circuitous route around the Big Creek drainage, and savor the sweet serenity of cascading water. There’s no need to hurry—there are plenty of spots for resting and contemplation along the way. Save this hike for a hot summer day when shaded glens offer respite from the mid-day rays. Forested all the way, and always within earshot of tumbling water, the Big Creek Trail makes a fine rainy-day hike too—especially when stream flow is high, intensifying the many cascades on this hike.

Excellent trail. Very peaceful and one of the best maintained trails I've seen in a long time! Highly recommend this!

Great early season trail. A good work out but not too difficult. Trail is in great condition and is well maintianed by the Mt. Rose Trail Crew. Be sure to travel the confluance trail, beautiful! Many places along the creek(s) for picnics and a couple of vistas of Mt. Washington and Mt. Ellinor.

bad @$!*% hike. 2nd time doing it. this time took a detour up the mt. elinor trail head to play around on the snow. most of that trail was unknown because of the snow. can't wait to do this one in the spring and make the summit. and do it from the bottom of big creek and not cheat by driving halfway up the hill.

A little difficult to find the start of the trail as one had to cross the river, but once found, definitely worth it. A good shady, well defined trail. Very peaceful and excellent scenery.
