Hike and scramble to the highest summit in the William O. Douglas Wilderness, where the view is outrageous and mountain goats are abundant. The Mount Aix Trail leads east from the trailhead through a semi-open forest of lodgepole pine, western white pine, tamarack, and Douglas and true firs. Beneath the trees on the forest floor grows kinnikinnick, and gray jays coast between the trees looking for handouts.
