Located in clear view of the Space Needle and just 8 miles from downtown Seattle, Blake Island is nonetheless a remote destination that’s only accessible to those who can cross its moat of Puget Sound waters. Anyone making the journey, however, will be richly rewarded with the opportunity to explore the island’s history, wildlife, and natural setting. Blake Island State Park is so close to the city, yet so far away. Although there are multiple places to moor a private boat along Blake Island’s shoreline and you can pull up almost anywhere if arriving by sea kayak, the best landing spot is the marina at Tillicum Village. Located on a prominent point on the island’s northeast corner, the village commands a view of most of the Seattle skyline to the east, Bainbridge Island to the north, and Vashon Island to the south. On a clear day, look for many of the Cascade Mountain range’s peaks above the city, including Mount Rainier. From this sea-level vantage point, the massive ice-clad volcano shows its entire vertical relief, rising 14,411 feet into the sky.

Easy 3 mile trail around the island. Lots of cross over trails labeled 'Red Trail' and 'Blue Trail'.
