A peaceful mountain lake surrounded by high rock walls, alpine meadows, and heavy timber rewards hikers on this short jaunt. The trail itself offers some ups and downs but is short enough (0.7 mile each way) that kids will get a kick out of it. Once at the lake, a number of exploratory trails lead off to the left to better and better views. Follow the sound of gushing water and you’ll no doubt spot the string of small waterfalls, plunging and tumbling over one another. Given the trail’s brevity, and big-time payoff, don’t be surprised if you’re not alone.

There was some snow still on the trail, but still an easy hike, and very enjoyable. Once we reached the lake, it was still mostly covered in ice. Beautiful Hike, very enjoyable, highly recommended for families with small children.
