Starting out as boardwalk, the trail, which soon turns to pavement, winds through otherworldly old-growth forest, including some of the oldest trees in the area. It’s all ferns and nurse logs and moss- and lichen-hung cedars, firs, and hemlocks. Chances are it’ll remind you of something out of the Lord of the Rings movies. Signs point out the biggie—a Douglas fir 7 feet in diameter—but its sheer size would point it out anyway.

Superb trail for all ages....but keep toddlers there is a place or two they could fall off slightly elevated walkways...just a couple feet high. Wood walkways, flat gravel, and paved sections. You could fairly call it handicap accessible. There are a fair number of massive trees, probably the best if not only way to easily see a mess of giants without going on a long hike. The trail is between 1/4 miles and 1/2 miles.
