One of the first trails on the north side to melt out, the Hannegan Pass Trail is also largely in the open. It passes only briefly through stretches of forest, thus offering superb mountain and waterfall views almost the entire way. Plus, except for the last three-quarters of a mile right before the pass, the grade is fairly gentle the whole way.

The view is good from the top of the pass, but the view really opens up if you continue on. Once you are to the top of the pass, you can continue on making the hike around 30 miles. It is also the gateway to Whatcom pass. Beautiful meadows and mountain views abide right past Hannegan Pass making it worthwile to continue on if you have 3 plus days.
