A couple friends and I spent a weekend at the Tucannon Campgrounds just north of this trail. We decided to go hiking on one of the days and left our campsite, driving approximately 20 minutes to the Tucannon River trial head. The hike was easy with very little elevation gain and most of the trail is through wooded areas. There are several spots where the trees have died and/or been burned down, but the scenery was beautiful. The trail runs along the river, but there are only a few spots where the trail actually goes near enough to the river to make it accessible. We brought our dog and he seemed to enjoy the hike as well. There are several spots in the 4 mile journey that could be used for camping or like we did, stop and have lunch. There are two trails in this area posted on Trails.com; Tucannon River and the Tucannon trail, these are the same trails, so don't confuse yourself. I would suggest this hike to anyone wanting a nice , easy, relaxing day hike.
