A hike over Cathedral Pass to the lush meadow basin of Deep Lake and beyond. Deep Lake is one of the jewels of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, a striking blue lake set in lush green meadows in a remote cirque below Mount Daniel in the heart of the wilderness. It is a popular destination of day hikers and backpackers. By contrast, Lake Vicente is a small lake set in a higher cirque that doesn’t melt out until late summer and is rarely visited.
