Climb from deep in Trapper Creek Canyon to Howe Ridge, and maybe make a short side trip to Observation Peak. Then continue through the old-growth forest to the upper trailhead on Forest Road 58. There isn’t usually any water along the upper 6.5 miles of this trail. There is 3,000 feet of elevation gain hiking the Observation Trail in this direction.

Climb from deep in Trapper Creek Canyon to Howe Ridge, and maybe make a short side trip to Observation Peak. Then continue through the old-growth forest to the upper trailhead on Forest Road 58.
