First hike the easy route through the forest to Packwood Lake. Then climb, passing Mosquito and Lost Lakes, to an alpine ridgetop and abandoned lookout site, with a magnificent view of Goat Rocks. The view from the abandoned lookout site is great in all directions. Mount Rainier is in full view to the northwest. To the northeast the White Pass Highway and White Pass Ski Area are far below in the distance. To the east Coyote Lake is below, and to the southeast is the jagged dark crest of Goat Rocks. To the right of Goat Rocks, the icy summit of Mount Adams towers above the green hills. To the right of Mount Adams, far in the distance to the south, across the Columbia River in Oregon, is Mount Hood.
