I really enjoyed this hike. We had backpacked from the Snowgrass TH and camped just off the PCT. We then dayhiked about 4.5 miles up and back. The contrast of the meadows and rock, rock and snow was great. The weather was awesome. Down lower the mosquitoes and flies were a pain but elsewhere things were good. Great views of Rainier, Adams, Goat Rocks, Valleys, etc. Goat Lake is definitely worth the trip if you have the time. Lots of water is available along the Snowgrass Trail. Not much along the Goat Ridge Trail. Going up to Hawkeye Point was also good. Great views of St. Helens from there as well as the other mountains. Also saw some mountain goats up there as well as above Goat Lake. Elk were seen in the valley below.
