Trails offers spectacular views of the north side of Mt. St. Helens. The remnants of the 1980 eruption can be seen every step of the way, offering sobering reminders of how devastating the event was. Bring plenty of water, or plan to purify the snow that might still be present along the way. Also bring sunscreen. Despite years of experience I was caught off-guard and paid the price.
