This is a magnificent, cross-country variation on the popular trail into Canyon Creek Meadows below Three Fingered Jack’s precipitous east face. After taking you through that meadow’s famous wildflower bonanza, this loop goes off trail to a spectacular meadow on the rarely visited southeast side of the mountain.
On weekends during the peak flower show in late July, entire divisions of booted infantry depart from the trailhead. Try to visit on a weekday. Note: In late 2003 the B&B Complex Fire burned all of this area except around Canyon Creek Meadows; expect a blackened landscape for several years.
