This pretty country road, also called Wenas- Ellensburg Road, connects Kittitas and Wenas valleys via Ellensburg, passing through a checkerboard of private and state land. It meanders to Umtanum Creek, through the undulating hills, picturesque farmlands and rolling rangelands south of Manastash Ridge and north of Umtanum Ridge. It crosses Ellensburg Pass about midway. Early May, a beautiful time here, is also a fine time for birdwatching here. On a county-maintained road.
