Amazing views. Very narrow road up to the high mountain vistas. Go slow and watch for traffic. You have to use pullouts to pass other cars. Mostly single lane road. You can view the rebirth of the forest after fire. The Needles fire a few years ago wiped out the area and it is starting to come back. Silver spires with new growth at teh bottom. Road form Hart's Pass Ranger Station down to the mining district is pretty rough. The sign tells the truth when it says maintained for high clearance vehicles. Don't tempt fate unless you are prepared. If you do the miners are friendly and ready to explain what they are doing. Just be respectful of the Private mining claims in the area.
