From Dog Lake (!), canine hikers and their human companions are swept north around Cramer Mountain and back under the shadow of conical Spiral Butte. This loop explores the forests, meadows, lakes, and mountains of the southwestern section of the William O. Douglas Wilderness. All hikers—two- and four-legged varieties—will appreciate the gently rolling nature of the route. No big ascents, no big descents, as the trail weaves among the lakes and meadows.
