Mount Stuart dominates the eastern half of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, towering so high above its surrounding peaks that it can be seen from trails throughout the region. Bean Creek is one of those trails affording views of the spectacular rock slabs of Stuart. But there’s more to this trail than mountain views. Indeed, there are splendid views of Mount Stuart, Ingalls Peak, and other summits in the Stuart Range. Warning: This trail crosses rattlesnake country. Dog-friendly must be kept on leash at all times when rattlesnakes are active (warm summer and early fall months) to reduce the risk of snakebite. This trail is best visited in spring and autumn when the vipers are less active. But at all times, be aware that rattlesnakes may be encountered, and know the proper actions to take in the event of snakebite.

nice even trail up to a beautiful view to the Stewart range. Snow over Memorial Day, but clear late July.
