This easy day hike offers you and the dog a chance to stroll through open pine forests, cross sprawling fields of flowers, and bask in the glorious views of surrounding alpine peaks. There are potential campsites among the meadows of French Cabin Basin and Silver Creek Basin, but they are largely dry unless you visit early in the year when there are still snowdrifts to tap for meltwater. That lack of water means carrying extra water for the canine, too, making camping a truly heavyweight deal.

Great trail, although difficulty finding the trailhead next to the ranger station (not marked and seem to be multiple entry points). Wonderful view from the top and peekaboo's along the way. Met very few hikers, but one group of hunters on the trail. 360 degree view of Mt Stuart, enchantments, Ellensburg and CleElum.
