This easy day hike offers you and the dog a chance to stroll through open pine forests, cross sprawling fields of flowers, and bask in the glorious views of surrounding alpine peaks.
There are potential campsites among the meadows of French Cabin Basin and Silver Creek Basin, but they are largely dry unless you visit early in the year when there are still snowdrifts to tap for meltwater. That lack of water means carrying extra water for the canine, too, making camping a truly heavyweight deal.
