A pair of sparkling alpine tarns, surrounded by bright granite and rich huckleberries, await you on this route. But for those with the energy and desire, the picturesque lakes are just the beginning of the wonders found on this alpine ramble. Stunning views of the craggy peaks of the North Cascades can be found farther along the trail, and from the top of Excelsior Pass, hikers can bask in the delightful views of Mount Baker far across the Nooksack Valley.

Really fun trail. My daughter had a great time. We backpacked up to Excelsior Ridge and camped. Mosquito hell! Would be unbelievable without the mosquito's.
