Set at the end of a dead-end trail, the Silver Lakes are out of the way and get fewer visitors than many other mountain lakes. But, set in a broad alpine cirque facing Mount Townsend, the blue-watered lakes lack nothing when it comes to stunning scenery and wilderness splendor.
Deer and elk roam the grass-covered slopes above the lake, and marmots whistle from the rocky talus slopes at the base of the valley walls.
