This Falcon guide is the most detailed and comprehensive of the field guides for this trail. Dorst campground was closed when we went, so that added 2 miles to the total round trip as we had to park along the General's highway. The footbridge at the trailhead was broken in half, so we had to clamber along the bridge ruins. An alternate path to the trail we found later was from the group loop at Dorst. We were the only ones on the trail that day. Four treefalls blocked the trail, resulting in climbing over or under the trees. Hopefully, the rangers will have responded to our report by the time of this writing. The grove is indeed spectacular, and we had it all to ourselves. A mother bear and her cubs were spied upon our return to our car via Dorst campground, but mother bear seem uninterested in our passing by.
Nice day hike trail for the family. Low traffic trail with a chance to see some wildlife.
