Take this hike to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking Spada Reservoir and you may find yourself afterward counting trenches in your sleep. I counted seventy-five on my way up—seventy-five energy-wasting, ugly, road-despoiling ditches (some as deep as 30 feet) that had to be climbed into and out of to reach the top. Sound tiring? Sound worth it? That depends on your attitude. The upside of this hike is complete and almost guaranteed solitude. It’s likely no one else besides you would be crazy enough to negotiate all those ditches just to get up a hill, even with the great view.

On my way up Sultan Basin Road to this trail, I came to a "Road Closed August 19 - October 19' sign about 3 miles off hwy 2. Wasn't able to do the hike.
