After driving 13 miles on a dirt road, why would anyone choose Thompson Creek over the spectacular views and flower-covered meadows of the nearby Skyline Divide trail? If the Thompson Creek road/trail and its family camping opportunities were anywhere else it would get rave reviews, but it is hard to justify hiking this abandoned road while comparing it to Skyline Divide. However, when the Skyline Divide parking lot is overflowing with thirty or more cars, Thompson Creek is a good alternative.
