The Chuckanut Mountain Trail is exceptional for its varied running conditions offering almost every kind of terrain an ultrarunner might encounter: steep ascents and descents on a dirt road, technical running along the Ridge Trail, as well as unforgettable mud slogging along the Lost Lake Trail. Larrabee State Park surrounds this trail and consists of 2684 acres along Samish Bay to the west and the Chuckanut Mountain ridge to the east. The park is heavily wooded with beautiful fir, hemlock, and spruce trees.
