I’ve laid out four options for you: a steep hike up Kings Mountain, a really steep scramble up Elk Mountain, a killer loop that includes both, and a more casual (though lengthy) trip along Elk Creek. With a campground at one trailhead, why not spend the night and do a couple of hikes?

There are some nice views on the trails in Ecola State Park. I stayed in the hikers campground. The cabins have 4 bunk beds each, made out of wood. I opted for my tent on soft ground. This park is pretty small. I hiked from Cannon Beach leaving at 11am and reached the campground at 1:30. Then I hiked on to the trail head at Seaside, then back past the camp ground to Indian Beach again, stayed there an hour and then hiked again to the campground and it was still only 6pm. I suggest just going for a day hike.
