Here’s a pleasant, mostly flat stroll along a beautiful river with three dramatic waterfalls. Chances are they’re unlike most falls you’ve ever seen. The long drive to the trailhead is worth it, especially if you get a campsite at the Lower Lewis River Falls Recreation Area and make a night of it.

I advise that you start at the North Trailhead on Germantown Road as it is does not draw anywhere near the crowd that hikes near Pittock Mansion. The different types of trees and flowers makes this the best city hike in America. It is hard to believe you are within walking distance of downtown. Everyone shuld walk this trail.

A fun trail for the short distance (15 mins) to the trailhead. Several people on the trails and an easy hike makes it a good hike for rec. use. Plenty of different trails that go anywhere from a few miles to a 27-mile hike from the trailhead on the furthest Western point, all the way to the Oregon Zoo.
