There are several ways to reach the summit of Silver Star Mountain—this is the longest and toughest path to climb, and possibly the hardest to reach. But it is without question the most entertaining option, offering excellent views, heaps of flowers, and few hikers, giving it an almost expeditionary feel.

Great trail, incredible views. I could see Mt Hood and Mt Ranier from the top. Definitely worth the $5 fee to enjoy this trail.

A short but fairly rigorous hike upwards from the highway through oak and fir ending with absolutely amazing views east towards Hood River and west almost to Portland/Vancouver. Beacon Rock and Mount Hood are clearly visible from the top (weather permitting, or course) and during the spring the entire upper portion of the mountain is abloom with yellow flowers. Highly recommended if you want a good work out and some killer views or the Gorge. Be sure to wear solid shoes or boots and bring plenty or water.
