Check out Green Lake and four other parks in the greater Seattle area that offer nature walks in fall and winter. Green Lake is a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants in the center of a dense urban neighborhood. It draws thousands of people daily to enjoy the water, green space, and numerous birds. Piedbilled grebe expert Martin Mueller, a Green Lake Park Alliance volunteer, leads 2.8-mile winter bird walks around the lake. No sign-up is required, but it is limited to the first fifteen participants, so you may want to get there a little early.
