Two of the prettiest high-country locations in Josephine County are Bigelow Lake and Mount Elijah. The trail to both ends at Oregon Caves National Monument. It’s 4.5 miles from the caves to Mount Elijah. However, it’s only 2 miles from Bigelow Lake to Mount Elijah. The Bigelow Lake Trailhead is only a 15-minute drive from the monument, if you know the secret shortcut. Highlight: A pretty, easy, meadowy hike into the high Siskiyous directly above Oregon Caves National Monument.
