Break out the thesaurus and look up the word “scenic.” Even if you use every synonym on the list you’ll still find them woefully inadequate in describing the beauty of this trip. In good weather (something of a hit-and-miss proposition here) the grandeur of this country can hold its own with just about anywhere. Why Glacier Peak was excluded from the borders of North Cascades National Park is a continuing mystery to the author, but the criterion certainly could not have been scenic beauty, because nothing in the official parklands surpasses this wonderful area. Take this hike and judge for yourself.
