The Birth of a Lake Loop is a barrier-free interpretive loop path along the shore of and over Coldwater Lake. As you work your way along the lakeshore for 250 yards you will see several interpretive signs. These signs explain the formation of the lake after the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. Take the time to turn right (north) at the junction, and walk out over the shallow waters of the lake to points of interest out there.
