An easy hike through old-growth forest travels past the gushing waters of Ranger Falls to a small, quaint emerald-green lake in the northwestern region of the park. The hike to Green Lake attracts many late-spring hikers because the snow clears earlier on this trail than most others in the park. Its traffic may lessen as the other trails open, but the trail’s charm does not. Dense, green rain forest and the gurgling sound of streams surround you as you ascend this moderate hill. After only 1.0 mile the gurgling becomes churning. A very short jaunt to the left (east) leads you to a close-up view of Ranger Falls; the right takes you to Green Lake.
