Appropriately named, this open ridge’s views are grand, its wildflowers are grand, and hiking this trail, the highest in the Olympics, is a grand experience. Enjoy nonstop views of jagged, glacier-covered peaks, deep emerald valleys of unbroken old-growth forest, and miles of wildflower-saturated meadows and alpine tundra. National park entry fee. Dogs prohibited. Wilderness camping permit required (available at WIC, Port Angeles). Fires prohibited above 3500 feet. Access road steep and narrow in places.
