Over a mile long with sparkling waters that re?ect stunning, stark walls, spiraling summits, and perpetual snow?elds, Snow Lake is one of the prettiest spots in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. And being a mere 3 miles from a trailhead located just off of an interstate highway one hour away from a metropolitan area of more than 3.5 million people makes it one of the Alpine Lakes’ most popular spots.

September is the perfect time for this hike, a good portion of this hike is in the sun which can be quite warm during the summer. You cross several creek bed and some of the trail is quite rocky but is all worth it when you reach the ridge and can see the lake. There are remains of an old cabin down by the lake. Bring your camara.
