3 day trip from with camps at Colchuck lake and upper Enchantments. Loved the early AM climb up Asgard and full day to explore upper Enchantments. Lots of snow last year. Nice to get the uphill out of the way first. Spacing out on Asgard is good idea due to rockfall. This year we will follow same route but spend 4 days come out at the other end.
The Enchantments are a one-in-a-kind backpacking trip. This can, and should, be done as a loop. We went in via Colchuck Lake and camped at a beautiful spot on Colchuck Lake below Aasguard Pass. The 1 mile Aasguard Pass trek took 1/2 day and was all sliding rock, but the view of the Upper Enchantments was worth the work. We came out Snow Creek trail and stopped overnight at Nada Lake. Swimming in Nada and Colchuck Lakes is a great reward at the end of two days of great hiking. Both the trails to Colchuck Lake and to Nada Lake were lovely. Nada Lake to the trailhead is an easy 3 hour hike and the least attractive that will be experienced on this hike. Done leisurely plan on two days in and two days out. The Enchantment Lakes area deserves 2-3 days to explore and enjoy.
