My family moved to Washington state in 2003 from the midwest and we REALLY had no idea of the landscapes that awaited us here!
The Olympic peninsula has it all! Mountains, Rainforests and the Pacific Coast all with-in a couple hours drive of the state capital of Olympia...Washington is a hiker's dreamland!
This is one of the most popular beaches on the NW coast of the Olympic Peninsula and with good reason. The beach is rugged and scenic and is easily accesible from the parking lot of the nearby camp store/cabins. Both factors (popularity and accesibility) also mean that there are lots more people here than at some of the more remote beaches. If you want scenic photo ops, Kalaloch is a great stop. If you want isolated serenity, park at one of the smaller beach stops and hike a mile down the beach.
