A large forest park on Bainbridge Island will delight children at any season with its wide trails, green wetland, and many birds. The Grand Forest was purchased from the DNR by the citizens of Bainbridge Island in 1991. A contest was held among the grade schools to name the property. Over 100 entries were submitted to the Park District committee, which made the final decision. Ben Belieu, a fourth-grader at Ordway Elementary School, won with the name, “The Grand Forest.”
