A great trail. Easy, well groomed, runs parallel to the river with interesting rushing water and view points. Interesting birds. The only drawback is the air traffic overhead. It can get noisey.
Took my 8 year old on this hike for an overnight at Camp Handy. Got lost several times on logging roads just getting to the trail head. Took us 90 minutes from trailhead to Camp Handy. Great trail, great 3 sided cabin with a front open and good firepit. Quick walk to stream for water. Will go back next year earlier in the season.
Easy to get to from Western Washington, this trail was not overly crowded, and a simple hike that made for a good overnighter. Do not expect to stay at Camp Handy, as it is usually full up, but there are numerous private camping spots along the Dungeness River.
