A clear blue-green lake surrounded by forest and the steep cliffs of Arthur Peak and Tolmie Peak greets families at the end of this hike, but children will think the magnificent old-growth rain forest and Ranger Falls are reason enough to walk. The trail is easy to find, gets heavy use, and is eroded down to bony roots and rocks in some places, but it does gain its elevation gradually.
