What child could resist walking through forest on this wide, gentle trail, sometimes at lake level, sometimes 100 feet above it? Waves lap and slurp alongside. Fish jump and jump again. In April, May, and June, ospreys swoop and cry to hikers, almost as if taunting them. Take a lunch and find a sandy beach at the halfway point where the kids can splash and swim.

The trail was well maintained and the stream provided soothing sounds for the back drop of this hike. We took a 3, 4, and 5 year old on this hike. The three year old made it nearly half way to the lake before he needed to be carried. The other children made the entire hike. The lake was still frozen in March so the kids were fascinated! Lots of fun.
