Another gorgeous scenic loop hike around rocky points and through an old forest on Fidalgo Head will delight children. Some of it is on low, sandy beach, but rocky areas also offer them pools to explore at low tide. Year-round views are of Deception Pass, Rosario Strait, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Olympics, birds, seals, and all kinds of recreational and commercial fishing boats struggling against or with the Deception Pass current. Caution should be taken by families with small children because some trails have steep drop-offs and none have railings.
