For the effort in gaining 2,700 feet in elevation, hikers are handsomely rewarded on this hike. The mileage is low enough to make it suitable for a day hike, yet several mountain lakes and a wide-open stretch on the Cabinet Divide make this worthy of dallying with a backpack for a few nights.
