This is a popular and painless introduction to an alpine scenic area in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness. As might be expected, easy access to a lake framed by stunning granite walls is likely to attract plenty of company. Lake Creek Trail 656 leads hikers over 2 miles of gentle uphill to Lower Geiger Lake, a pretty spot surrounded by rocky slopes. Continue up the trail 1.4 slightly steeper miles to the upper lake. Campsites are available at both lakes, but check for campfire restrictions.
